I have brewed coffee before without a coffee maker. What I did was I heated my cup of water in the microwave. I took a coffee filter and put 1-2 teaspoons (or however much you want) of coffee in the center of the coffee filter and then I bunched it together and tied it off with a twist tie. Usually it will just float on top of the hot water so you have to hold it down with a spoon. It works best if your water is really hot.

Use a saucepan. Bring the water to a boil, pour in the coffee, remove from the heat and let sit for 5 minutes. Pour a little cold water in to help the grounds settle, then pour carefully into a cup to avoid stirring the grounds back up. Some people call this "Cowboy Coffee" and it is really quite good!

You just need a filter & a funnel, place ground coffee in it.
Pour boiling water over the top & through into your cup.

Buy some Melita coffee filters and hold one over your cup. Pour one cup of hot water through the filter which has your coffee in it.

There are also one cup coffee makers that you put on top of your cup, using a filter pour water into the filter. I'm sure your can find them at places such as WalMart or even your supermarket.

If you like coffee you should just invest in a coffee maker. There not expensive....you can get a nice one for $20-$30. Instant coffee taste like garbage next to a fresh brewed cup of coffee. Also check out flavored coffee...there great!
