I have this recipe that calls for brewed, cooled, divided coffee. What does divided mean?
Well in the directions it says to only use half of it then the other half. I didn't think that's what it meant by divided, and my mom insisted I look it up. 'xP
Thanks guys <.<

Divided in a recipe means the same ingredient, but it's going to be used at different times and/or different purposes…..Good question, though!!!

Is the coffee used more than one way it the recipe? Maybe it is asking you to reserve a portion of the coffee for a later step?
tthe coffee is used in 2 different steps of the recipe, for example, 1/3 cup, and then another 2 tbsp.
It means that you need a certain amount of brewed, cooled coffee, but that portions of it are going to be used at different points in the recipe.
Usually it means to divide the ingredient into portions–like maybe you are making a cake, and you need one cup of coffee for the cake and one for the icing. The recipe would call for two cups of coffee, divided. So you wouldn't put it all into the cake, but divide it into two parts, and put one aside for making the icing with later.
your right, if it calls for 3 c. coffee divided you will need 1 1/2 c. of coffee at one point in the recipe and the other 1 1/2 c. later on, it just means divide in half………………good for you
That's what it means. You will use some of the coffee at one point and the remaining at another point.
Divided usually means to use it in two separate portions at different times in the recipe.
Also, we're talking about coffee, it's not like you can do much to it after it's brewed.
Yes it means that part of it is used in the recipe say, as a marinade. The other part is used as the sauce.
