Is it OK to freeze coffee beans?
I buy the generic ground coffee for my everyday coffee drinking, but I also like to treat myself once in a while to some good coffee made from freshly ground beans in a coffee press. But the beans usually go stale before I get to finish them. I have heard that putting them in the freezer will keep them fresh longer. Is this true? If so, can I just grind them from the freezer and brew them, or do I need to do something else before they are usable?

Keep even your generic ground coffee in the freezer or refrigerator for better tasting brew for a longer period of time.
I keep the beans in the freezer, also put in the can of commercial ground coffee once it is opened. I also have a jar of instant in there for the recipes that call for it.
I grind beans directly from the freezer and put directly from the grinder into the pot! They lose flavor very rapidly.
I used to freeze my beans when I drank more expensive coffee on the weekends. I would freeze them whole, then grind what I needed and brew them. I heard it kept them fresh longer also. It seemed to be true. It certainly didn’t hurt them.
I am not sure about the ground coffee in freezer, but if you put the instant coffee mix in the refrigerator, it will last longer and smell better!
I keep mine in the freezer, and is tastes fine every time I grind and brew !!
Yes, I freeze beans often, make sure they are in an airtight container. Directly from freezer to grinder is fine, but once they warm up from grinding, they can clump, so I do suggest leaving them sit out for a half an hour or so.
