Let C be the amount on 2004:
213*10^6 = C+C* 610%
213*10^6 = C*(1+610%)
213*10^6 = 7.1C
C= 213*10^6/7.1
C=30*10^6
They have purchased 30 millions beans in 2004.
Set it up as an equation. x is the amount from 2004.
x + 6.1x = 213,000,000
x(1 + 6.1) = 213,000,000
x = 213,000,000/7.1
x = 30,000,000
simple
they buy 35 pounds in 2004
(213 / 610) * 100 = 34.9180327
