I make the worst coffee on earth! I’ve been practicing for 10 years. I can’t say for sure why it is bad, not consistently strong or weak, but it is bitter with an unpleasant taste. Sort of sharp on the mouth. It is not smooth and soft on the mouth like what I have at a coffee shop or even at a fast food drive through.

I have used nearly every brand of coffee that is offered on the market from cheap to very expensive. I have tried organic too.

I’ve had 4 coffeemakers in the last 10 years, each pot improving in quality but with consistently bad results. I now use a Delonghi 10 cup model that is only 2 months old. It uses a gold metal filter basket.

I use cold water that is filtered through my fridge filter. This is the same water that I drink & has a crisp, clean taste.

I keep my coffeepot and carafe clean & descale regularly.

I typically make 4-6 cups of coffee (6oz of water per cup). 1-2 tbsp grinds per cup, using instructions on bag of beans.

Please help?!?

Coffee question… What is “double strength”?

I’ve been roasting & brewing coffee multiple ways for several years.

I keep seeing answers here that talk about making coffee "double strength" (especially for iced coffee). Forgetting that all the experts I’ve seen online say to make iced coffee with cold brewed, not hot, coffee; how would you make coffee double strength?

Coffee requires a specific amount of grounds for a specific amount of water, depending on the brewing method (drip, espresso, french press, etc.). If you put too much of the grounds, you get under extraction (weak coffee). If you put too much water through the grounds, you get over extraction (bitter).

Is there some way I’ve never heard of to make double strength coffee?

The only way I could think of is putting more instant into water and I don’t even consider that coffee.

Thanks for any input, in advance.
Maybe it’s the thing I always hear about Americans drinking weak coffee. I use a French press, moka pot, vac pot, espresso machine (Racillio, not WalMart), and manual drip. Could it just be what everyone calls "double strength" I call "coffee"?

I use the cold brew as instant @ work & it’s the only kind my wife will drink. When I want it cold I’ll put the cold brew over ice or in the blender with vanilla ice cream, otherwise I use one of my other methods. Like you, I prefer the acidity of regular coffee (the espresso is my favorite).

I’ve recently moved to the Minneapolis area. One of the things I miss the most from my previous place of residence is the local coffee shop that roasted & sold their own beans. It was top notch coffee & much better priced than the commercialized shops. Is there anything like this in the Minneapolis area?

I was blessed with a coffee grinder & dark roast coffee beans. I LOVE strong coffee so I have been making it espresso but sometimes, it comes out so strong, it tastes too bitter to me. I like my coffee strong but not that bitter. Any suggestions on how to dilute the bitterness? I make 10 cups. How many coffee scoops might I try? I’ve been doing 2 1/2.

i have a question about coffee brewing?

the taste of my coffee keeps changing over a period of time. i never do anything different. i figured out a way i like it , then i keep making it that way, but then it changes. then i will go to someones house (grandmas, or something) where i learned to make it the good way, and hers tastes like it should. we live in the same area, use the same tap. same brand and kind of coffee. i even bought a new coffee maker, when this happened the last time. when the maker is new, it tastes great. then it starts to have a funny taste to me. i have cleaned my coffee pot periodically, so i don’t think it is that. any more suggestions?? my husband even notices the difference, so it isn’t my taste buds!!
yes i was the coffee carafe everyday with dishsoap. and also i clean it with a mild bleach and water-run water through then run vinegar & water through after that. then another clean set of water.
sorry, i do the vinegar & water and bleach & water thing about once a month

I make a pot of coffee every morning using the same pre-measured & vacuum-sealed coffee pouches & the same amt. of water (to the top fill-line in my drip coffee-making machine). The packets are from the same carton, meaning they are from the same lot of coffee beans. Yet the resulting taste can vary markedly! How come?

My parents bought this coffee maker, but misplaced the manual that goes with it.

I’m getting really frustrated, because I cannot seem to figure out how the hell I even begin to set up the time on my Cuisinart Automatic Grind & Brew Coffee Maker.

It’s this model:

If anyone out there can help me out, thanks soooo much! I greatly appreciate it!

What brand and flavor do they use? I’ve seen posts saying the brand is "Higgins & Burkes" but what flavor or blend is it? I’m a big fan and would love to order the whole bean coffee for home! Thanks!

at home instead of buying Dunkin Donuts every morning. When I buy the average size grounds, they go stale before I get to use them so it defeats my purpose of saving money. I am thinking to buy whole beans & a coffee grinder. Then, freeze the coffee and use it as needed. Is that a good idea? Do you have any additional tips for me?

Currently have an opportunity to import Green (raw) Organic coffee beans directly from a small group of growers in Chiapas MX, this type of coffee is currently the most sought after by wholesaler’s & rosters.
need FAST initial funding to establish the require import/export companies and contractualy agree the growers to yield as much of the winter crop as possible (depending on the financing…) tremendous return on your investment need to react quickly.

Which country do the coffee beans come from that D&D uses? I wonder if it is thru "fair trade" agreement, or do they purchase the cheapest way possible and rip off the farmers that are already struggling??? If u don’t know the answer, what is ur opinion?
