i had this vegan friend, really pushy and annoying to the core.
no fun at all being around her, she would judge us for everything, the chocolate we would eat, the milk in the coffee, our sunday meals, until one day i got fed up with her when she announced she’s going to be a fruitist or whatever that is called and how sorry she feels for the rest of us for not.

I challenged her to jog till one of us quits.

Me : i eat a variaty of fruits, veggies, beans, mushrooms, dairy, 6 days a week, and every sunday meat (usually beef, sunday is the -going out to eat- day) i refuse to take medication unless i’m dying, i treat headaches, stomach aches with remedies of my grandma, never been hospitalized, besides apendix removal. and i work out twice a week for 2 hours.

She : veggies, fruits, beans, grains. (i dunno her medical history, nor am i sure if she’s on nutrition pills)

the result was that i won. She lost her breath after some while.

How do you explain that?

my own explanation is that a balanced diet WITH working out and no abuse of medication is the key to health.

also it’s really important what you’re eating is clean. either that is a cow or it be an apple. I’m a big fan of biological/organic stuff.

what is your opinion? (please no hate speech, please show maturity and keep the answer on topic, )
i forgot to mention i drink tons of tea (fresh herb tea not lipton and super market stuff) without sugar. dunno if it matters, but fresh herbal tea is just damn good

Do you think all this new "health" stuff like eating organic food and such is mostly fueled by Marketing? Seems ALOT of people are eating healthier and spending TONS of money on pills, diets, etc., to live longer. My great grandmother is 101 and is good condition considering her age. To this day, she drinks coffe, eats fried pork chops, fried corn, fried chicken,.etc. I’m from Tennessee if you haven’t noticed. I think that this whole "organic" blitz and eating healthy stuff is more about companies making money. My great grandmother has never smoked or drank a day in her life in which I think that contributes more to living a long healthy life.

I’m 34 and eat healthy but don’t take it as far as most people out west in California seem to do. I have 3 grandmothers over 80 and none of them has ever drank or smoked. I just think drinking and smoking are WAY detrimental to your health than trying to eat these crazy expensive "organic" foods. Anyways, I told my wife I’m going to eat like my family has always done..fried foods from and an Iron Skillet and add tons of bacon grease when making corn bread, green beans etc..and at least 2-5 cups of black coffee everyday. But I’ll never drink, except an occational glass of wine, and NEVER smoke.

I am 5′2", 110 lbs, 34 years old, and I eat healthy. I try to watch my carbs, and I really try hard to stay away from junk food. I woke up with a headache the other day, and my grandmother (who is diabetic) suggested to test my blood sugar. It was 127. Prior to the 127 reading, I had eaten a blueberry smoothy (from fresh blueberries, Greek yogurt, some vanilla soy milk and no sugar), but I did eat 3 taco shells (just the shells, not anything in it). I also had some organic coffee made from the Pinol grain (from Nicaragua).

After the 127 reading, I went home, had some mashed potatoes, okra, green beans, and a piece of fish. A few hours later, I had 10 saltine crackers and a glass of grapefruit juice. I took another reading about 1/2 after eating those food items, and it was a 140.

Mind you, my headache wasn’t bad, it was just a dull headache, I didn’t even take any pills for it or anything.

Before any of you comment, please be sure that I am making an appointment to see the doctor because I know he will give me the best advice, but I would like some intelligent input first. If you have something intelligent or helpful for me, please comment. I really appreciate it.

If one was trying to stay up late in order to do their homework, would simply swallowing coffee beans like pills suffice? What sort of damage (if any) to the digestive system would this do?
